In many cases the transformer is the most expensive component in a power supply unit. The transformer is certainly one of the heaviest. So by manufacturing these on site we can help cut manufacturing & transport costs. Why buy all your components and then ship them out to sub contractor when you can buy in the PSU complete, tested & burn-in?
